The Instagram Insights API has essential restrictions regarding Stories data. Here’s what you need to know:
Stories are only accessible for 24 hours via the API, even if they are archived or featured on your profile. After this period, the data becomes unavailable.
If a Story has fewer than five views, the API will not return any data, stating that there aren’t enough views to display metrics
These limitations mean that if Instagram archives your Stories or has very low views, their data can disappear before it can be retrieved. Catchr cannot report data that has already expired or been removed from the API.
Connect your Instagram account to Catchr as soon as possible to maximize your chances of capturing the data.
Run your reports or exports within 24 hours of publishing the Story.
Set up an automatic export of Story data to Google Sheets or a database to keep a historical record.
Use the “Combine and update rows” option to preserve the history.
Set the schedule to run daily (we recommend using hours after 2 am to avoid timezone issues).
Set the period to “Last 7 days” and check “Include Today”.
You will be able to keep a history of the stories and have the latest stories added to the Google Sheets without erasing previous stories.
