Overview
You may notice that the following fields in Catchr return values significantly higher than what you see in Google Merchant Center (GMC):
Product Status - Active
Product Status - Pending
Product Status - Disapproved
Product Status - Expiring
This difference is expected and is caused by how the Google Merchant Center API provides the data.
Why does this happen?
Catchr retrieves product status data directly from the Google Merchant Center API.
In the API, product status is returned at the country level.
This means:
If a product is available in multiple countries,
And you use a metric such as Product Status - Active,
The value returned is the sum of the status across all countries.
However, in the Google Merchant Center interface:
Product status is typically displayed for one selected country at a time.
As a result, the numbers shown in Catchr (aggregated across countries) can be much higher than the numbers displayed in the GMC interface (single country view).
Example
If one product is:
Active in 5 countries
The API will return:
Product Status - Active = 5
But in GMC (when viewing one specific country), it will display:
Product Status - Active = 1
When this logic is applied to hundreds or thousands of products, the difference becomes significant.
How to get matching numbers with GMC
To align Catchr data with what you see in Google Merchant Center, you must:
→ Use the field “Product Status - Country.”
You can:
Segment your report by “Product Status - Country”, or
Apply a filter on “Product Status - Country” to select a specific country.
This will ensure that:
You are analyzing data for one country only
The totals match what is displayed in GMC
Best Practice
If you need to compare Catchr data with Google Merchant Center:
Add Product Status - Country to your report
Filter on the country you are viewing in GMC
Then compare the Product Status metrics
This will provide consistent and accurate results.
