This playbook helps users troubleshoot common GEO issues across the main GEO routes.
It focuses on:
- Navigation problems
- Empty or no-data states
- Monitor setup issues
- User-facing recovery steps
Start with these checks first:
- Make sure you selected the correct workspace.
- Make sure you opened the correct monitor.
- Check the selected Date range.
- Check active filters such as Models, Types, Tags, Domains, or Content Types.
- Confirm the monitor is still Active.
- No workspace exists yet.
- The wrong workspace is selected.
1. Open the workspace selector from the left sidebar.
2. Make sure the correct brand workspace is selected.
3. If no workspace exists yet, create one first.
4. Complete workspace setup and link accounts if required.
- No monitor has been created yet.
1. Open GEO Monitoring.
2. Click Create first monitor or Add monitor.
3. Complete monitor setup and generate prompts.
4. Wait for the first run to finish.
- The first run is still processing.
- The monitor was created recently.
- The selected date range does not include available data.
1. Check whether the monitor is still in a Running state.
2. Wait a few more minutes and refresh the page.
3. Change the Date range to include the monitor's active period.
4. Confirm the monitor has prompts and at least one selected model.
- There is not enough collected data yet.
- Filters are too restrictive.
1. Reset or broaden the page filters.
2. Expand the Date range.
3. Wait until more responses have been collected.
4. Recheck the monitor after the next run.
- No prompts were added yet.
- Search or filters are hiding the results.
- The imported CSV was not prepared correctly.
1. Clear the prompt search field.
2. Reset Models, Types, Tags, and date filters.
3. Open Create Prompts and confirm prompts were added.
4. If using CSV import, export the existing prompt list first and keep the same file structure before reimporting.
- No responses have been collected yet.
- The monitor is too new.
- Filters or date range exclude available results.
1. Clear the response search field.
2. Expand the Date range.
3. Wait for the first run or the next refresh cycle.
4. Confirm the monitor is active and has prompts.
- There is not enough historical data yet.
This is expected for recently created monitors. For example, if a monitor was created on March 5, there will be no data before March 5.
1. Confirm when the monitor was created.
2. Expand the Date range only if it includes real collection dates.
3. Wait until more days of data have been collected.
4. Recheck the chart later.
- The collected responses do not contain many citations yet.
- Active filters hide available results.
1. Clear Search URL.
2. Reset Content Types and Domains filters.
3. Expand the Date range.
4. Review the Responses tab to confirm citations exist in recent answers.
- You are editing a running monitor.
1. Review whether the change is minor or structural.
2. If you want to preserve historical consistency, use Copy to new monitor instead of editing the current one.
3. Use Save changes only when you are comfortable changing the existing monitor configuration.
If none of the steps above solve the issue, contact us in the chat, and we will help you investigate it.
